Contractor Types offer an effective way to classify and organize contractors. Using Contractor Types simplifies many processes, including:
Search and Filter: Quickly find specific vendors when needed.
Manage Records: Keep your contractor directory organized and consistent.
Report: Generate more accurate insights and analytics for facilities management.
Common Contractor Type Examples: Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Fire Protection, Landscaping, Security, Janitorial, Pest Control
Permission and Navigation
The following permissions will allow users to perform the following actions:
Manage Contractors and Contractor Types: Allows users to create, edit, delete, and import Contractor and Contractor Types.
Navigation: Accessible in the iiQ Facilities module under Contractors > Contractor Types in the left navigation menu.
Creating a Contractor Type
To add a new Contractor Type, navigate to the +Add Contractor Type button in the top right corner of the Contractor Type page.
Enter a Name for the contractor type and select Save.
Validation Rules
Uniqueness Requirement: Contractor Type names must be unique.
Duplicate Prevention: The system performs a validation check upon saving. If a duplicate name is detected, the action is blocked, and an error message is displayed, preventing the save.
Deleting a Contractor Type
To delete a contractor type, select it from the list, then click Delete. The system will automatically perform an association check.
System Validation
No Active Associations: If the Contractor Type is not assigned to any contractors, a confirmation message appears indicating it is safe to proceed with the deletion.
Existing Associations: If the Contractor Type is currently assigned to any contractors:
The deletion action is blocked.
A message displays the number of organizations/contractors currently associated with the type.
Resolution: You must remove the Contractor Type from all associated contractors before the system will allow the deletion.
