Places in Incident IQ (iiQ) represent your district’s schools or other physical facilities. They are a critical foundational element to use iiQ to its fullest potential, including:
Automated Data: Attaches location data to tickets based on user or asset assignments.
Asset Oversight: Assigns assets to specific locations and rooms for tracking and Quick Ticket submission.
Workflow Automation: Uses the Rules Engine to route tickets to agents based on work location.
Data Visibility: Enables filtering of assets/tickets and the creation of Custom Views.
Reporting: Provides location-specific trends via Analytics Explorer.
Permissions and Access
The following permissions will allow users to perform the following actions:
Create Locations and Rooms: Allows users to create Locations and Rooms (Additional permissions that are required: View Locations and Rooms List and Details)
Import Locations: Reveals ‘Import Locations’ in the left-hand nav (Additional permissions that are required: View Locations and Rooms List and Details, and Create Locations and Rooms)
Import Rooms: Reveals ‘Import Rooms’ in the left-hand nav.
Accessing Locations: Navigate to Places > Locations on the left sidebar. (Requires appropriate administrative/agent permissions).
Importing Locations
Use the Incident IQ location importer to add multiple locations quickly. Access it by clicking Import Locations under Places on the left sidebar. A template for uploading your locations, which includes the required fields, is available for download on this page.
Required fields when importing:
Locations will not be created without all the required fields.
Name
Abbreviation
Location Type (Administrative Bldg, Elementary School, Gym, High School, Middle School, Other)
Address (Street, City, State, Zip)
To begin, drop your file into the “CSV file to import” section.
After the file is uploaded, select the Location Matching Strategy in the top right corner:
Match By Location Abbreviation
Match By Location Name
Next, map the fields from your spreadsheet to fields within Incident IQ. A green check mark appears when a field is mapped correctly.
For fields that were not automatically mapped, click Add Field Mapping to identify and add them. Once all fields are mapped, click Continue to Next Step.
Note: You cannot map any additional fields other than the default and required fields for locations.
The import attempts to automatically match CSV values to existing values in iiQ. You may be prompted for an additional step to Map Location Types for the following iiQ Location Types:
Administrative Bldg
Elementary School
Gym
High School
Middle School
Other
Confirm the Value from the import to the Target value in iiQ. Click on any value to manually select the correct field to map. This opens a new window where you can search for and select the value to map to in iiQ.
You must map all values listed to continue. Once you have saved your mappings, click Continue to Next Step.
The import preview page displays which locations will be created, updated, or skipped. Review the preview and click Begin the Import Process when ready.
Importing Rooms
Use the Incident IQ room importer to add your rooms to specific locations easily.
Access: On the left sidebar, under Places, click Import Rooms.
A template for uploading rooms, including all required fields, is available for download on this page.
Required fields for importing: Rooms will not be created without all of the following:
Room Number
Location
2. Upload: Drop the CSV file into the “CSV file to import” section.
3. Matching Strategy: Select the Rooms Matching Strategy: Match By Room Number.
4. Field Mapping: Map fields from your spreadsheet to fields within Incident IQ.
A green checkmark indicates correct mapping.
5. Location Mapping: The system attempts to automatically match CSV values to existing values in iiQ.
Confirm the Value from the import to the Target value in iiQ.
Clicking a value opens a new window where you can search for and select the iiQ value.
All listed values must be mapped to proceed.
Save the mappings, then click Continue to Next Step.
6. Review & Finalize: On the import preview page, review which rooms will be created, updated, or skipped. If necessary, return to the previous steps to make changes. Click Begin the Import Process to start the upload.
Completing Pending Import
The Importer lets you pause and resume the import process. On the import page under pending imports, click Continue to resume.
Reviewing Completed Imports
Review recently completed imports towards the bottom of the Import page.
To access a detailed report (created, skipped, or updated fields), click Show Import Results.
Alternatively, click Download Results to log the import.
Archiving: Import information is archived after 30 days. Contact iiQ support to access records older than 30 days.
Permissions for Importing Locations and Rooms
To enable these features, go to the left sidebar: Administration > Permissions. Select the permission policy, navigate to the location section, and choose from the following three options:

Import Locations
Import Rooms
