Importing Models
The Import Models feature enables users in iiQ Assets, iiQ Ticketing, or iiQ Facilities to import and activate Model data for the product from which the import is initiated. This speeds up the process of populating Models and simplifies the import of individual assets.
Models must have a Manufacturer, Model Category, and Asset Type to be created. Admins should import them last to avoid manual creation.
You can also import Manufacturers, Model Categories, and Asset Types. Read more here:
Users cannot modify the model name of existing entries when using the import feature.
Instead, the import tool can only create new models. Additionally, the importer tool provides the option to enable existing models.
Users can locate this feature within the left navigation menu under Admin > Import Models.
Please note that you must have specific Permission options enabled to import models. Learn more about enhanced permissions here.
On this page, you can download a template to upload your models. The template includes the required Incident IQ fields for importing models.
The Required Fields are:
Model
Manufacturer
Category
Asset Type
When you are ready to begin your import, drag and drop a CSV file into the import section.
After uploading an import file, users will be directed to a page for mapping fields.
In the right corner, you need to select the Model Matching Strategy. You can choose between Match by Manufacturer & Model Name and Match by Model Name.
By default, the Enable on Import toggle, located in the right corner, is set to the ON.
If the toggle switch is in the ON, any manufacturers that are included in the import will be activated and made accessible in the specific product where the import operation is initiated. For example, when an import is executed in iiQ Facilities module, the models will only be activated and made available within the Facilities module.
If the toggle is switched off by the end user, no modifications will be applied to any models included in the import. Here's what will happen based on the model’s status:
If the model was previously enabled, it will continue to remain enabled.
If the model was previously disabled, it will continue to remain disabled.
If a new model is created through the import, it will be disabled upon creation.
Users cannot update the model name through the import; they can only create a new one.
If the user mistakenly enters the model name, they can identify the error during the mapping process. They should then map it to the correct model name or create a new entry with the accurate spelling.
After completing any necessary mapping and configurations, click Continue to Next Step. You will then be directed to a page where you can review the imported data. Review which models will be created or skipped during the upload.
You can filter the import preview page by:
Models Created
Models Skipped
All Models
Users can also search this page for a specific model to see how it will be processed during the import.
If you need to make any changes, revert to the appropriate step. Once you are ready to begin the import, click Begin the Import Process.
When it's completed, the import will show Completed—Successful. Selecting Download Results will allow users to select and download the import results file.
Reviewing Imports
You may review any recently completed imports at the bottom of the Importe
Models page.
If you need to access a detailed report of which users were created and skipped, click Show Import Results to open the Import Results page. Alternatively, you can click Download Results to log the import file instead.
Show Import Results and Download Results are available for imports completed in the last 30 days.
You can also stop and resume the import process at any time. To access any pending incomplete import, navigate to the import in question and click Continue.
