By generating multiple clones of an Asset simultaneously, you can significantly enhance your efficiency and productivity. This approach not only saves you valuable time but also reduces the effort required to manage each individual clone.
Cloning is permitted only for serialized assets.
Navigate to Admin > Cloning. There are two steps in creating multiple assets using a clone:
Create the parent clone
Generate Clones
Create the Parent Clone
To start, click New Clone at the top right corner.
The New Clone Template page appears, where the available fields to update are the following:

Click Next after updating the required fields.
You will then be taken to the Resources Details Tab. From here select an Asset Type from the drop-down list.
Only Asset Types with a “Serialized” inventory type will be available for selection in the Asset Type drop-down list.
After selecting the Asset Type, the screen updates to contain the fields defined for that Asset Type.
Define the Inventory Tag number schema
Defining the inventory tag number sequence is essential in creating the parent clone. In the General Information section of the parent clone, the field “Inventory Tag” is available to define the prefix for the inventory tag number.
The bottom section of the parent clone provides fields to define the last digits of the inventory tag number.
Field Name | Required/Optional | Description |
Asset Tag Suffix Counter | Required | Defines the initial number where the counter begins. |
Asset Tag Suffix # of Digits | Required | Defines how many digits are in the suffix. |
For example, if my Inventory Tag is ABCD, my Asset Tag Suffix Counter is 2001 and my Asset Tag Suffix # is 6 - then my clones will have the Asset Tags of ABCD - 002001, ABCD - 002002, ABCD - 002003, and so on.
Click Save Changes. A success message informs the user that the clone parent was successfully saved.
Generate Clones
After the clone parent has been created, individual asset records can be generated by cloning the parent. Click Generate Clones.
Enter the number of assets (100 max) to create from the parent clone. Click Generate Clones. If you wish to create more than 100 at a time, please contact your CSM.
A success message will display after the bulk operation has been completed.

You are able to see all the jobs that have been run for cloning under Admin > Jobs.
