Creating an Individual Asset
An example of an asset that uses a model as an asset name with the hierarchy:
Resource group: Curriculum
Parent model category: Instructional Equipment
Child model category: Science Equipment
Asset type: Microscope (inventory type - serialized)
Manufacturer: AmScope

An example of an asset that does not use a model as an asset name with the hierarchy:
Resource group: Curriculum
Parent model category: Instructional Equipment
Child model category (optional): Science Equipment
Asset type: Measuring cups (inventory type - generic)
Asset name: Plastic Beaker 100ml
Before an asset can be created, the following entities must be created/enabled:
Source of Asset Name is Model Catalog
Resource Group
Asset Type
Manufacturer
Model Category
Child Model Category
Model
Source of Asset Name is Asset Name

Asset Type
To create a new asset, Navigate to Resources in the left navigation and click New Resource.
Alternatively, navigate to Resources>Explorer and click New Asset.
The asset type describes the resource and is used for reporting and filtering purposes. When selecting the asset type, the required fields are dependent on the Inventory Type (Serialized, Generic, Consumable).
Examples of asset types include calculators, workbooks, textbooks, teacher editions, novels, science kits, etc.

Select an Asset Type from the drop-down list.
Once the Asset Type is selected, new fields will be displayed. On this page, you should update all the required fields in different sections:
General Information
Resource Properties - only shows if the Asset Type is set to Asset Name
Purchase Information - only shows if the Asset Type is set to Serlized
Depreciation Information
ISBN - only shows if the Asset Type has this enabled.
Consumable Asset:

Asset Type | Required | The drop-down list is populated with the Asset Types with Product Visibility toggled On for iiQ Resources. The name of the Asset Type will include the Inventory Type. |

Asset Name | Required | . If the Asset Type “source of the asset name” is “Asset Name” the user should enter the asset name in the provided text field. . If the Asset Type “source of the asset name” is “Model Catalog” the asset name will be inherited from the model name.

Specific Location | Optional | This field only displays for Serialized assets. If you choose ‘specific location,’ you can specify exactly where the asset is located, for example, in the cabinet at the back of the room.

Resource Properties
Category | Optional | If the asset type uses a model as an asset name, the user to select from a list of Models associated with the Asset Category and will inherit the name from the model. The name of the asset cannot be changed. |
Image | Optional | If the Source of the Asset Name is “Asset Name” for the selected Asset Type, the user can optionally upload an image for the asset. If the source of the Asset Name is “Model Catalog” for the selected Asset type, the image used in the model will be automatically added to each asset. |
Purchase Information
For Serialized Assets, the Purchase Order information will be available to complete.
ISBN Information
Upon entering the final digit, all the fields displayed under ISBN will be auto-populated.
ISBN fields are only available if the Asset Type has the ISBN extension toggled on. This can be found at the bottom of the Asset Type Details page.
