The Events Calendar iCal Feed enables you to create a subscribable calendar URL from a customized event view in iiQ. This allows you to sync those events with external calendar applications like Google Calendar, Outlook, or Apple Calendar.
Important Notes:
The calendar feed is read-only
Events cannot be edited from external calendar tools
Sync frequency depends on the calendar provider (e.g., Google, Outlook)
Access is controlled via a secure tokenized URL
Anyone with the link can view the feed (no login required)
The calendar feed will not show past events
This example will demonstrate the process for Google Calendar. However, this will be similar for Outlook, Apple Calendar, and others.
Steps to Creating and Sharing an Events Calendar Feed
The Admin who manages the district website should go through the following steps:
Apply needed filters to the list of events
Create a custom view Calendar (i.e., New Custom View - 2026 Events Calendar)
Generate the iCal Sharing Code
Add to the external calendar application
Steps 1 and 2 are outlined in this Knowledge Base guide.
Step 3 - Generate the iCal Sharing Code
Select the Calendar tab in the view. The iCal Sharing widget is located on the left. Turning the ‘Enable iCal Sharing’ toggle ON will generate a public iCal URL that you can copy.
Step 4 - Add to the external calendar application
This example will demonstrate the process for Google Calendar. However, this will be similar for Outlook, Apple Calendar, and others.
To add a calendar in Google Calendar, go to the ‘Other Calendars’ section in the left menu. Click the + button, then select ‘From URL’.
This opens the Add Calendar Settings page, where you can paste the iCal Sharing URL and select ‘Add to Calendar’.
The iiQ Calendar will be integrated into Google Calendar, allowing users to view iiQ events alongside their personal ones. The calendar application will automatically add new events, update existing ones, and remove those that have been deleted.
If the ‘Enable iCal Sharing’ toggle is switched OFF, the calendar feed will be inaccessible, and the subscribed events will be removed from the user's external calendar during the next synchronization.
